About Us The Air-Lock Log Home's log home manufacturing plant, located
in Thompson Falls, Montana has been in operation since 1945 Air-Lock Log Homes. Custom log homes. These log homes bring together the simplicity, strength and charm of a traditional log cabin with the convenience and comfort of the modern home. Our log buildings withstand all types of weather, are easy to heat in the winter and stay cool in summer. These log structures have been built as family log homes, log barns, log lodges, log restaurants, log camps, log saunas, log playhouses, log garden tool sheds, log garages and log vacation cabins.
The History1920's - A man named Royal Wright promoted a hollow log product that a man named Art Clough actually invented. Two factories were built, one in Ontario, Canada andthe other in Grayling, Michigan. 1930's - Both Canadian and US patents were issued for the construction process using the hollow log called Air-Lock Logs. 1940's - Tom Oster was working for the state of Montana in Economic Development. He remembered the Air-Lock Logs from his native Michigan and asked his old college roommate, Stephen Babcock, to join him in Montana and start a company. They formed National Log Construction Company in Thompson Falls, MT in 1946. After several years, Tom Oster sold his interest to Babcock to pursue his interest in Geology. 1955 - With the permission of his former partner, Tom Oster and his family formed a corporation in Prescott, Arizona. The new corporation was named Air-Lock Logs Company. 1971 - Air-Lock logs continued to be produced at the Thompson Falls manufacturing facility for the next 27 years. 1998 - Bill Hagedorn purchased the Thompson Falls plant and began production of the Air-Lock Log as Cabinet Mountain Log Works, L.L.C. The original trademark was shared with Air-Lock Log Homes in Prescott, AZ. Hence, the "sister" company relationship! 2005 - Air-Lock history has come full circle. Our new name is AIR-LOCK LOG HOMES, L.L.C. Bill Hagedorn is supported in the business by his daughter Carol Hagedorn. The New Mexico plant closed in November 2004 and our new sales consultant, Susan Oster Conrad, brings 30 years of family history, product development, and sales and marketing experience back to the company her father began in 1946! Susan will represent Air-Lock Logs throughout the Southwest. Production of the historical Air-Lock Log will now come solely from Air-Lock Log Homes, L.L.C. in Thompson Falls, Montana.
